Applying for the GED Test

The Tennessee Technology at Jacksboro is an official General Education Development (GED) test center. The Center is approved by GED Testing Services of Washington and the Tennessee State Board of Nursing, respectively.  The GED Test Center was established to provide this valuable education benefit to our service area.  The GED test is usually given monthly, while the NET and Phlebotomy tests are given as required.   For additional information, contact our Business Office at 423-566-9629, Ext. 100.

GED Test Date

Our next General Education Development test is scheduled for August 6, 2008.  Arrive at the TTCJ no later than 7:45AM.  You should receive a letter from our Student Services Office that describes the location of the test, the testing date, the fee, and the deadline for payment.  If you have not paid your test fee prior to the deadline, you will be become an alternate on the day of testing.  If you have any questions, please contact our Student Services Office.  Tip:  Take some time the day before the test to relax.  By this time, you have studied the materials that may have been challenging, and have reviewed those materials that were familiar to you.  Do not review the entire test material.  Also, ensure that you will be thoroughly rested on the day of the test.  DO NOT CRAM the night before.  Usually, cramming only makes you tired, not better prepared!

Nursing Entrance Test

Passing scores on the Nursing Entrance Tests (NET) are required before entering the Center's Practical Nursing Program.  Therefore, the Center provides several test dates during the Winter and Spring Quarters prior to the beginning of our next PN class in July.  The cost of the test is $30 and may be paid at the Center's Business Office during normal business hours.  Applicants may pay in advance, or on the day of the test.  A study guide is available from the Business Office at a cost of $30.  We have found the average test scores of those who have studied the guide, or have attended one of the Pre-NET classes are significantly higher than average.  Therefore, we encourage each of you to purchase the guide several weeks prior to the test date.  Contact the Student Services Office for additional information concerning the Pre-NET classes.

For those who have access to the Internet, free NET practice tests are available at http://www.testprepreview.com/nursing_practice.htm.
